Yerba Maté, (pronounced herba-may-tay), comes from the Indian name maté meaning "drinking vessel" or "gourd". Jesuits added the word "yerba," meaning the herb of excellence. This tea grows mainly in Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina, near streams and rivers. Yerba Maté is grown for its leaves; they are harvested and dried from December to August.

In some South American countries this is a national drink, more popular than coffee or any other type of tea. Add a little lemon or Stevia for a traditional flavour, sit back and enjoy.

Hawthorn is found mostly in Europe, eastern Asia and eastern North America and its use has been growing since the 1800's. In Britain, Hawthorn was an important part of many May festivals and was known as 'May flower'. In France, Hawthorn goes by the name "l'epine noble" (a noble thorn) from the belief that the crown of thorns worn by Christ was made of its branches.

Hawthorn is a member of the Rose family: rosaceae. It's a small, compact shrub-tree with white bark, hard wood, and sharp thorns. It produces small berries called "haws" which look like tiny apples or Rose Hips. Enjoy!

The use of mint is documented in the Bible and in herbal manuals of ancient apothecaries. In those times, mint was a different plant closely related to the bland “horse mint” or “wild mint.” It is only through thousands of years of horticulture that we now have such a potently aromatic and invigorating herb as Peppermint.

Renowned for its clean, refreshing flavor and sensation of coolness, Peppermint is by far one of the most famous herbs in the ritual of tea.
